Lewtershop Road Stream & Wetland Restoration Project
S&EC prepared restoration design plans for approximately 550 linear feet of piedmont stream and approximately 0.5 acres of riparian wetlands in Chatham County, NC, that were inadvertently impacted as a result of development activities on an adjacent property. The project scope included evaluation of existing impaired/impacted site conditions, the development of a conceptual restoration plan, the development of construction documents including Construction Drawings with incorporated Technical Specifications, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), N.C. Division of Water Resources (DWR) and Chatham County regulatory coordination, contractor coordination and construction oversight. S&EC also provided contractor coordination and construction observation while the restoration work was performed, and five years of post-restoration success monitoring. Stream restoration utilized collected reference reach data and natural channel design methodologies.
